Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery
What is Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery?
Newport Beach Brazilian Butt Lift
Nationally renowned and Board certified Newport Beach plastic surgeon, Dr. Siamak Agha, is an expert in creating curvaceous buttocks that many celebrities have been recently flaunting. In Orange County Southern California, the Brazilian butt lift is the method chosen most often by our patients who desire buttock enhancement or augmentation.
A Brazilian butt lift (also known as buttock lipoaugmentation or buttock enhancement) is a procedure that is designed to fill the buttocks with your own fat so that the final overall shape is a lifted and rounded contour. It involves harvesting your own body’s fat from the flanks, hips, lower back, thighs, or abdomen and transferring it into the buttock tissue. Because the areas receiving liposuction are now leaner and sculpted, your full, round buttocks will become the beautiful highlight of your sensuous new shape.
What is involved in the Brazilian butt lift procedure?
To have optimal results, you must have enough fat in different areas of your body to serve as the source for the fat graft needed during a butt lift procedure. You must also have some fat and muscle already present in your buttock to serve as a foundation for the grafted fat to be placed into. Dr. Agha removes fat from selected areas of your body with very gentle liposuction to protect the living fat cells. He will then sculpt a V-shaped demarcation between your lower back and upper butt. The liposuctioned fat is then washed with antibiotics, processed, and carefully injected into the buttocks as small droplets or a micrograft. During the Brazilian butt lift process, Dr. Agha contours and sculpts your buttocks into a desired shape and size. The fullness and projection of the buttocks can be greatly increased by layering many fine layers of fat micrografts throughout the buttock (gluteal) muscles and the overlying fatty tissue. Microinjection uses specialized instruments and techniques in placing the processed fat droplets to maximize their blood supply. This optimizes their survival in the new location in the buttocks tissue. After the fat is transferred, a certain percentage of it will re-vascularize and survive in the new location. Because approximately about 20 % of the injected fat resorbs after your butt lift, grafting is usually exaggerated. Once the micrografted fat is re-vascularized at about 6-8 weeks after your Brazilian butt lift surgery, further loss of volume is minimal. Compression garments are worn for several weeks after a Brazilian Butt lift surgery to conform the buttocks as well as to reduce swelling.
What type of anesthesia is used for Brazilian butt lift surgery?
Brazilian butt lift surgery will require general anesthesia since extensive liposuction and liposculpture is needed to harvest ample fat for the buttock enhancement / augmentation.
What is the intended result of Brazilian butt lift surgery?
The outcome of a Brazilian butt lift is dependent on the technique and experience of your chosen plastic surgeon. By applying meticulous processing and micrografting principles, Dr. Agha obtains predictable results after his butt lift procedures. In his practice, most of the transferred fat (about 80%) survives after the surgery; maximizing the results of your Brazilian butt lift and buttock augmentation. Despite its many advantages, a Brazilian butt lift surgery is not for everyone; especially for women with minimal body fat. For these patients or those individuals who desire a significant buttocks enhancement or augmentation, buttock implants will be more appropriate.

General information about buttock augmentation in Newport Beach
With the increasing public awareness and knowledge of buttock reshaping procedures, more patients are requesting buttock enhancement surgeries such as a Brazilian butt lift to achieve rounder, more projected, and curvaceous buttocks.
Buttock shape is influenced by a number of factors that include genetics, gender, race, age, and weight. Some people have small or large buttocks that are genetically coded. For others, the buttock shape and size may reflect their racial background. Weight can also influence and affect the volume and shape of the buttocks and surrounding anatomy. Other factors such as aging, pregnancy, and weight loss play important roles in the buttock form. Aging results in a mild degree of fat loss from the buttocks with skin and connective tissue laxity. The buttocks are thus loose and saggy. Similarly, after pregnancy, many women experience some fat loss from their buttocks. On the other hand, massive weight loss patients experience significant deflation of the buttock region as well as the rest of their body. The deflated buttocks are typically loose and saggy.
Who can benefit from buttock augmentation surgery?
Different concerns for buttock enhancement vary among patients. Each patient has different needs and requests. Some will need buttock reduction while others request buttock augmentation and reshaping. For others, a combination of buttock reduction with lift or buttock augmentation with lift will be more appropriate. In recent years, Orange County plastic surgeon, Dr. Agha has developed signature buttock augmentation and reshaping procedures in Orange County, such as the Brazilian butt lift. These include:
Buttock Lift – This procedure involves removal of excess skin from the upper buttocks and lower back to correct for buttock looseness and sagging.
Buttock Augmentation – This procedure can be performed by using silicone buttock implants or your own fat. The latter procedure is known as buttock fat transfer or the Brazilian Butt Lift. Due to the risk of complications and problems with use of buttock implants, most of our Orange County patients elect to have buttock augmentation with their own fat.
Buttock Reduction and Lift – This procedure involves removal of excess tissue from the buttocks and lower back along with tightening of the buttocks.
Buttock Augmentation and Lift – In this procedure, buttock augmentation is achieved with use of your own lower back fat while the butt is lifted to achieve a smoother contour similar to the Brazilian butt lift.
