Orange County Brow Lift or Forehead Lift
The following information provides answers to many of the questions that patients ask about wrow/forehead lift surgery.
Who can benefit from brow lift surgery?
If you have a sagging forehead or brows that hang too low and too close to your eyes, then a forehead lift can help you look more alert and youthful. You may also consider a forehead or brow lift if you have deep vertical furrows between your eyebrows (frown lines).
What are the intended results of forehead lift surgery with Newport Beach plastic surgeon Dr. Agha?
Forehead lift surgery can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads. A forehead lift is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the forehead area. The brow lift procedure also corrects drooped brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad, or tired. In a forehead lift, the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows, and minimize frown lines.
Does the brow lift procedure require a hospital stay?
The brow lift procedure is performed either on an outpatient basis at an ambulatory surgical care facility or in the hospital. Patients can typically go home the day of their surgery, but occasionally an overnight stay is recommended. We can recommend Newport Beach recovery facilities or home care if you would like additional private post-operative care in the days following surgery.
What type of anesthesia is used for brow lift surgery?
Brow lift plastic surgery may be performed under general anesthesia, which is given by an expert anesthesiologist. These services will be provided by the Southern California surgical facility where your surgery is performed, and the fee for this service will be billed separately.
How long does forehead lift plastic surgery take?
The length of brow lift surgery is typically about 2 hours.
What is involved in the brow lift procedure?
Dr. Agha typically performs a full forehead lift for those patients who require both a forehead and a brow lift. This is completed through minimal incisions with or without the use of an endoscope. In younger patients who desire a more elevated position of the brow tail, Dr. Agha may perform a temporal brow lift through small incisions in the hair bearing scalp.
A forehead lift is often performed in conjunction with a facelift to provide full facial rejuvenation. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) may also be performed at the same time as a forehead lift, especially if a patient has significant skin overhang in the upper eyelids.
What happens after my brow lift surgery?
The incisions are covered with light dressings, and stitches, if used, will be removed in 5 to 10 days. Initial discomfort subsides daily and can be controlled with oral medication. Scars will usually fade within a few months.
When can I return to work and regular activities after forehead lift surgery? What restrictions will I have?
Some bruising and swelling may be present within the first week or so after brow lift surgery. Most brow lift patients choose to return to work after the initial healing is complete in 5 to 10 days and sutures are removed. Residual bruising can typically be hidden with cosmetics until bruising completely fades.
Is brow lift plastic surgery typically covered by insurance?
The brow lift procedure is unlikely to be covered by insurance.
