During your initial consultation, Dr. Agha will inquire about your general health status, pre-existing health conditions, prior surgeries, your medications, allergies, and smoking habits. Relevant questions in the history include:
It is important that you be thorough when providing the requested information as it helps to prevent complications during your care. When asked about medications, be sure to include any diet pills, vitamin or herbal preparations. Some vitamins and herbal medications can affect your blood pressure and clotting ability. Honesty regarding your smoking and alcohol use is also very important as these may have a profound impact on your recovery period and your ability to heal. Because smoking can increase the risk of complications and delay healing, smokers should quit at least three weeks before surgery and remain smoke-free for three weeks after surgery.
After reviewing your medical history, Dr. Agha will discuss your concerns, priorities, and motivations for pursuing plastic surgery. Dr. Agha will then examine you and assess your lower body anatomy, including your waist, hips, saddle bags and thighs, buttocks, and calves. He will evaluate the shape and size of your thighs relative to the rest of your body. Next, he will assess multiple factors, including the degree of excess fat as well as skin laxity and damage to the front, back, outer and inner aspects of your thighs. Also, the severity of vertical and/or circumferential looseness of the thigh tissue is determined.
Each of these components will determine which procedure is best for you. With only mild to moderate excess fat and good skin elasticity, you may be benefit best from liposuction alone. For excess tissue and skin confined to the inner thigh region, you may be a candidate for an inner or medial thigh lift with or without liposuction. For excess tissue and skin confined to the outer thigh and saddle bag region, a lower body lift procedure will be needed to correct for excess tissue of the waist. For vertical laxity and excess of the front, back, inner and outer thighs, Dr. Agha performs his signature Spiral Thigh Lift together with a lower body lift to correct the whole thigh. Finally, for laxity of the thigh in a transverse or circumferential dimension, the best procedure is a Vertical Thighplasty with or without other forms of thigh lifts. In this manner, both the vertical and circumferential thigh excesses will be treated.
Dr. Agha will subsequently provide you with information on different options and will explain the advantages and disadvantages of the each procedure to you. You will then be provided with information regarding the potential risks and complications of each surgery. Finally, considering your input, Dr. Agha will plan an appropriate procedure to best suit your anatomy and meet your desires and expectations.
At the completion of your consultation, you will be given a written estimate of the cost of your procedure. At this time, you will also have the option to schedule your procedure. You are encouraged to bring your spouse, significant other, family member, or a friend to your consultation.
